Good touch/bad touch®

Good Touch/Bad Touch® is an education program for children, taught in collaboration with school systems in the city and the county of Roanoke in order to prevent children from being victims of abuse. Good Touch/Bad Touch® is taught to children aged 4 to 10, by staff certified to teach and to train other instructors in the curriculum.

The Good Touch/Bad Touch® curriculum meets stringent educational criteria, including health and safety standards, and is continuously revised and evaluated to remain relevant to current research. Children learn to recognize the difference between "good touches," which eliminate fear and build self-esteem, and "bad touches," which hurt or which give a child the "uh-oh" feeling.

Children's Trust has presented the Good Touch/Bad Touch® program since January 2005. This year 1,300 children will participate in the program.
